The Arête des Cosmiques, a famous alpine route in the Mont-Blanc massif, embodies the very essence of mountaineering. With a history stretching back more than a century, it stands as a symbol of daring human endeavor.

Long before the arrival of cable cars to this high point above the Chamonix valley, George Ingle Finch and his brother Maxwell made their first ascent of the ridge, which was not yet the Cosmiques ridge, in August 1911.

The ridge owes its name to the studies on cosmic rays that were carried out in the refuge at its base.
